As a long time resident of the high desert region of the American southwest, I am a Tarot teacher and reader who leads a weekly Tarot Circle at a local bookstore. My name is Asher and I am a Tarot deck collector (approaching the 650 mark), who has studied Tarot for 13 years. I have read professionally in metaphysical bookstores both locally and on the east coast, before transplanting myself. Some of my teachers and mentors include Mary Greer, Rachel Pollack, Geraldine Ameral, and Ruth Ann and Wald Amberstone.
I have also studied astrology for the past 10 years, and have taught the basics to my Tarot Circle. I enjoy natal astrology and especially locational astrology, or the astrology of place. I settled here between my Chiron and Neptune lines in order to heal and to study & practice metaphysics…all unbeknownst to me until I studied locational astrology with the incredible Ariel Guttman of Santa Fe, and saw my chart and maps! My love of symbolism and mythology led me to the study of asteroids and their placement in one’s natal chart. For example, the asteroid Reiki is conjunct my Ascendant!
My journey with Reiki began 13 years ago back east, when a friend invited me to a class he was hosting. The beauty and simplicity of this gentle healing modality entranced me and led me forward. I received my Reiki Master/Teacher training in western (Takata lineage) Reiki soon after moving here. I was later inspired to study more traditional Japanese (Hyashi lineage) Reiki styles, and was initiated into Gendai Reiki Ho and later into Komyo Reiki Kai, which I practice currently.
